"Into the Meadow"--a watercolor created from my own reference. The deer were right across the street--easy shot! I thought I would return them to the "meadow" instead of the concrete of the street. When we build developments in their territory we encroach on their lives. Then they find our landscaping delicious whether the nursery says "deer don't eat these" or not! Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
