"The Pollenators" depicts the important job bees perform in nature. They are busy with this camellia. Painted from the artist's on reference photos, this 16 x 12 watercolor on paper in mounted on a 1.5 profile wood panel. The sides are stained a compatible green. The painting is archival--protected by a UV varnish and archival wax.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
