This dramatic crow was in the woods close to my studio window when I photographed him/her. The lighting was great. The acrylic painting is on board with a fumage background. The fumage was created with the smoke from a candle and only black and white paint was used. The painting is framed in a satin black frame --finished size 17 w x 13 h.

Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
