This original 18 x 24 acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas depicts my grandfather's violin and my love for nature. My maternal grandfather immigrated from Germany where he played this violin. Then my mother played it, I played it and then my son played it. It is still a family heirloom. The use of the faux border creates a feeling of depth.

Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
