Painted from the artist's own reference photos, this female cardinal has found the perfect perch among the Nandina berries. The painting is on a gallery wrap canvas 9 x 12 and framed in a floater frame with finished size 11.75w x 14.75h. Watercolor crystals were used in the background with painting in acrylic. She's a lovely lady ready for a home!

Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
