This painting is named after the freed slave who raised nine children here. The cabin has had some restoration but much of it is original. I work from my own reference photographs and took this one on a fall morning when the rising sun bathed everything in the gold of the fall foliage. Image size is 15 w x 19 h. Located in Aiken County of SC.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
