This acrylic on canvas depicts a scene from an early morning walk on the beach at Isle of Palms in SC. The bottom foreground of the picture is texturized with crushed sea shells found on this beach. Some palette knife texture was used in the grasses and sandy areas.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
