Artist's Description

Within the horse's eye is a reflection of a painted pony statue. In Aiken, SC the painted pony project was a fund raiser and this painting was inspired by that effort. It was selected for a first place award in the professional watercolor division at the SC State Fair.

About Mary McCullah

Mary McCullah

Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos. Mary and her husband retired to North Augusta, SC in 2006. At that time the artist was still traveling throughout the country teaching seminars and...
