Artist's Description

Meet Blanco, a first year red-tail hawk. We met when he came to rehab with an injured wing. Unfortunately he did not regain full flight capabilities but fortunately he was placed in a wonderful educational center where he became an "ambassador". He was stunning with his unusual light coloration though after the first molting he did gain some more buff coloration. I decided to give him a more graphic background making him the star. This acrylic original painting is done on a gallery wrap canvas.

Mary McCullah

Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos. Mary and her husband retired to North Augusta, SC in 2006. At that time the artist was still traveling throughout the country teaching seminars and...
