One quiet Sunday our bluebirds were so active feeding little ones in the house my husband built. I couldn't resist using my "old" camera with "real" film to try to capture them from inside the window. Actually I have two whole rolls (all just good research photos)! This piece is painted in acrylic on a 1 1/2 inch deep gallery wrapped canvas.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
