This watercolor painting was inspired by one of our trips to AZ and a photograph I took. The abandoned building was so stark against the red rocks and green foliage. Loved the shadow from the open window and the path that says, "someone once lived here". The painting is matted in off-white with a simple rustic frame. I'm so excited that it was just awarded third place in 2-D division at the NAAG member show! Framed, the painting is approx. 30.5 x 26.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
