A staple in the South--gardenias with their fabulous aroma are everywhere. I photographed this gardenia in my front yard right after a brief summer shower. This is a watercolor on paper. The original is deckled on all four edges,floated and framed with white mat--overall dimension is 22x25 inches. Image size is 13 x 16 inches.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
