While visiting the Columbia SC Botanical Gardens I could not help but photograph this charming birdhouse. There was a freshness and look of fun with all the splatters of bright paint. Original watercolor on paper, matted and framed. Framed size is 22 1/2 w x 29 1/2 h.
Born in Missouri and living throughout the US, Mary McCullah has worked closely with zoos and nature preserves giving conservation related programs and doing hands-on work with animals including gray wolves and birds of prey. These experiences have provided valuable inspiration for her art work. The award winning artist paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor concentrating mostly on nature and wildlife as subject matter. Mary is attracted by the fluid movement of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic. She works from her own reference photographs, often combining several photos.
